About Me: This is my 30 plus year of teaching
and my 20th at Hornedo. I have taught kindergarten through 8th grade
and have loved my switch to Social Studies eight years ago. I am an El
Paso native having graduated from Burges High School and then attending
U.T. Austin and the University of Colorado at Boulder where I received a
B.S. in Journalism. I have taught in both the YISD and Austin school
Class overview: This year I am teaching 6th grade World Cultures along with 7th grade Texas History. In addition, both grade levels will dive into current events and the presidential election in November.
All students are required to bring their interactive notebook to class
daily. 90 percent of the work done in my classes will be kept in the notebook. Little homework is given as most everything can easily be finished in a class period.
Should you need to schedule a conference, my personal prep is 2nd period (9:10-9:55). I look forward to seeing you on Parent Night.
In addition to the notebooks, students are required to
have colored pencils, scissors, and glue sticks. It is the
responsibility of the student to have these materials each day in
class. I will not be providing these materials. Most all disciplines
will be using the interactive notebooks this year. Students will not be
allowed to return to their locker for forgotten items.
