Dear Parents,

Welcome to Hornedo Middle School!  I am looking forward to having a successful school year.  My name is Mrs. Miller and I have been teaching several years.  I have taught elementary, middle school, and high school.  I am delighted to be at Hornedo and teaching sixth grade Reading and English.  I attended UTEP and Texas Tech. My husband and I have two children ages 13 and 20 who are the light of our lives.  As a family we enjoy all sports, especially basketball and football.

The goal of the class is to improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Novels, poems, short stories will be incorporated to achieve these goals.  My teaching philosophy is very simple.  I want to empower your child to become a lifelong learner by giving them the necessary tools to be able to pursue their educational dreams.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  My conference is during 6th period (1: 51 to 2:55) except on Wednesdays.

My rules are as follows:

  1. Be responsible.
  2. Be ready.
  3. Be respectful.
  4. Be healthy.

Extra supplies needed for class:  1 1/2 binder with 5 dividers and hand sanitizer.

Should there be any problem, I will first speak to your child, and if the behavior persists, I will call home to set up a parent conference.   Consequences could include a conference with the Counselor, Assistant Principal, and/or a disciplinary referral.

Thank you in advance for your support and assistance in making this a wonderful school year.  Please sign and return acknowledging that you have received this parental letter.
