Please check the links in the menu at left for information about the class!

I am a native El Pasoan. I attended Hanks High School and UTEP. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. My major was in Graphic Design, and my minor was Drawing. As part of my undergraduate work I took classes in the following art disciplines: Ceramics, Painting, Metals, Sculpture, and Illustration. I moved to California where I worked as a graphic designer for a cosmetics company and then as an art teacher for a private company. When I returned to El Paso, I earned my teaching certification through UTEP's Alternative Teacher Certification Program program. I have worked at Hornedo Middle School since 2008.

Art is a very important aspect of our culture. I hope that my students will have a greater appreciation for Art because of my class. I believe that every student can succeed in my class—if they are interested and they put forth the effort. I think that being a true observer to the world around us is the first step to both learning to draw, and to finding the beauty and visual value in the everyday objects all around us.

A few of my favorite artists are: M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Vincent Van Gogh, Brian Froud, Alex Ross.
