Hello My Name Is...
Rebecca A. Mata
Orchestra 6th - 8th Grade - Conference Period 11-11:45am
Successful educators for young adolescents have high expectations for every member of their learning community and are committed to actively engaging ALL of their students. This belief has led Rebecca A. Mata to commit 35 years of teaching elementary, middle school and ninth grade orchestra classes. Her commitment has provided opportunities for ALL of her students to participate in many school related functions. Besides the many outstanding awards her orchestras have received over the years, many of her students have been members of the El Paso All-Region Orchestra. Several of her past students have also achieved membership in the Texas All-State Orchestra. Along with her orchestra classes, she has worked as adjudicator for Solo/Ensemble and Classical/Sight-Reading competitions in Las Cruces, Ysleta and Socorro Independent School Districts. Rebecca has also been a guest conductor for The All-Region Orchestra in Las Cruces.
Rebecca is a native El Pasoan and a graduate of Burges High School. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1979, and played with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra from 1975-1984. She now plays in string and musical ensembles, and is a member of TMEA.
